1. Rembrandt lighting: is both natural and compelling at the same time. Hold the light to one side of the face at a 45 degree angle and try to create triangle that goes from each side of the eye down to the nose. 2. Loop lighting: It elongates the face. Hold the light to the side of the face and move the light a distance that way you a have a loop shadow under the nose. 3. Split lighting: is very dramatic. light at the side of the subject and only light up half the face. 4. Butterfly lighting: makes woman's faces look better. Put light above subject to make shadow under the eyes and nose. 5. Rim/profile lighting: enhances texture, creates glowing effect. get the light to bounce off the front of the face.
